Leadership Series

This service is designed to prepare leadership teams to support and monitor the effort within their own buildings.  This series of workshops will not only focus on topics contributing to assessment literacy, but also on transferring the skills, knowledge, and tools to participants so they can lead others through the process.

Highlights of the service include:

  • This series will be delivered over six, one-day sessions.  Leadership teams from each district attend and members remain consistent through the full series

  • Teams leave with an action research orientation (tasks) between each session and return with the evidence/artifacts of their efforts at the next session

  • The work of the sessions involves building their background knowledge, providing them with the necessary tools and resources to lead the work, and coaching them through leading by doing and responding to the results in an ongoing fashion.

The Assessment Literacy Leadership Series will be conducted by one Solution Tree content expert to provide continuity to the group.  This expert will help oversee their process and make sure everyone who participates understands the full scope of the work being done and the expectations of the individual sessions.

Teacher Workshop Series
Solution Tree will provide a series of Assessment Literacy Workshops in topics related to classroom-level assessment.  These workshops will be open to educators within the East Bay Educational Collaborative, and will be offered outside of the Leadership Series topics.

These sessions will be interactive and participants will leave with practical skills, strategies, and products of their work.  We can conduct as many sessions as needed, and would recommend a starting slate of four to six topics.

Topics for this series will be collaboratively determined by EBEC stakeholders and Solution Tree.  It is assumed that the assessment topics will identified by reviewing the intended outcomes of this training.  Topics may include:
  •  Developing Learning Targets
  • Exemplars for calibration of student work
  • Rubrics aligned to PARCC, Core, and other Standards
  • Descriptive Feedback
  • Protocol to Build Assessments
  • Protocol to Analyze Assessments
  • Student and Self-Reflection: Teach students to self assess, keep track of learning and set goals AND Engage students in self-reflection and what they know
  • 4 Cs: Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Communication (21st Century Skills)
  • Integrating technology into instruction and assessment
  • Designing for accuracy
  • Designing for rigor and relevance
  • Understanding common assessments
  • Understanding a balanced assessment system
  • Employing formative assessments successfully
  • Student involvement in the process
